Opposing opinions, Obesity Panacea blog.
A friend of mine linked to a series of lectures given in 2009 by Peter Janiszewski. It’s an interesting set of videos that paint the complicated picture of weight and health.
Now, I recognized the name Peter Janiszewski because I’ve stumbled across his blog, Obesity Panacea, more than once while doing research. I have to warn you that Peter’s blog is anti-obesity… at the very same time on his blog he discusses the research that those of us in FA refer to (as compared to just ignoring that evidence).
As a skeptic, I’m interested in hearing the other side of the argument, but I’m particularly excited to listen to researchers who admit the issue of weight and health is complicated. On Obesity Panacea there is talk about more than one side of the research, so I follow the blog.
It’s not really a fat friendly place, but if, like me, you want to keep apprised on the current research about obesity and want to hear respectful (although possibly disagreeable) discussion about fat research, I recommend Obesity Panacea.
I found them through Dr. Sharma, but they seemed kind of dickish to me upon first read. Maybe I need to give them another shot. Thanks for sharing, Elizebeth.
Peace,
Shannon

I think your right. They do present an opposing opinion, so “dickish” is a word you can use to describe their blog. I like them more than Dr. Sharma’s blog becasue they talk less about childhood obesity but I also follow Dr. Sharma’s blog, to read that opposing opinion.
Know your enemy, and all.

Elizebeth,
I don’t think it’s so much the opposing opinion, they just seem kinda smug about their positions or something. I don’t know. I’ll have to read them again and see if anything strikes me in particular.
Peace,
Shannon
I personally prefer to go right to the databases and get the research directly, but sites like that are good if you also want commentary. After all, you can conduct your own analysis and that’s ammunition for you.:)
