On Hold with Atchka! and Veronica: Part II

Trigger warning: This interview is all about exercise, so if it’s not your cup of tea, please skip.

A bit less than a year ago, I posted the third episode of On Hold with Atchka! which featured my wife, Veronica.

That interview (and, more specifically, the text that accompanied it) led to my expulsion from the Fat-O-Sphere (and the subsequent post that convinced those who needed no convincing that I was the asshole they already knew I was).

The only thing I regret was that much of my anger was directed at Bri, when her hands were tied in the situation. I think that all around the situation could have gone much better, obviously.

That being said, I was terrified at the time that being outside the Fat-O-Sphere would prevent me from contributing to Fat Acceptance, just when I was preparing to launch Fierce, Freethinking Fatties.

What began as a way to bring together those with a broader view of Fat Acceptance has become my online family, and I absolutely adore the community that we have created and cannot wait to launch FFFs 2.0 to take us to the next level.

I love that I have a place where I can express my views and know that people are not going to willfully misinterpret my words for whatever purpose. I love that I have a place where I can say what I’m thinking and if it’s wrong, someone will thoughtfully explain why they disagree. I love that I have a place where people can get something off their chest and provide a unique perspective on an issue with so many facets.

In short, I love my fellow fierce, freethinking fatties.

And because I feel connected to my cobloggers and our readers, I love to share my other loves with you all. Hanging out with Veronica is probably my first love, and it’s the place where I’m completely myself. The first interview with her was fun because she shared how she felt about Fat Acceptance and her own body issues in a way that is the very essence of FFFs.

This interview is about water aerobics and goes into her opinions on fitness, both positive and negative. Because of that, we discuss issues that are difficult from some to listen to (hence the trigger warning), but also, we make jokes about healthism.

This interview is for people who want to hear about water aerobics, not from a scientific standpoint, but from a human standpoint. From the standpoint of a person who doesn’t enjoy exercising, but tried water aerobics and fell in love.

This interview is for people who are considering making that same tired New Year’s resolution to lose weight. I hope that, instead, those people will consider making a New Year’s Health at Every Size resolution.

And the one thing that puzzled me when I considered following the HAES model was what kind of movement I would engage in. Although I’m not doing water aerobics myself, after listening to Charlene Kopansky and Veronica, I might have tried water aerobics before the elliptical.

Also, if you’d like to watch the demented dream I mention in this post, here it is:

And if you want to see the full MST of “Santa Claus” you can watch it all right here.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this interview with my wife and I hope I don’t get expelled from the Universe for it.

You can listen to the interview here.
