Fat Girl Anthem
I heard someone the other day call “And I am Telling You” (also known as “You’re Gonna Love Me”) the ultimate woman-power and fat girl anthem.
I have some problems with that.
Mostly because in the song she is telling a man who no longer wants her that she is going to stay and that he is going to love her, but also for the following reasons:

1. He treats her horribly.
2. He has already cheated on her.
3. He has already said that he doesn’t want her.
4. He leaves her in the end.

I’m fine with that being the plot of the movie. I am NOT fine with that being my anthem.
Might I suggest Deborah Cox’s “Absolutely Not”

It might be terrible and objectifying, but “Cherry Cola” by Lou Bega really makes me rock out my bad, fat chick self.
I am all about “I Love Myself Today” by Bif Naked. It was the first song I ever heard by heard and it struck a powerful chord in me then and still does today every time I hear it. It’s my immediate pick me up, can’t knock me down, song. I mean really, just read the title! lol
Yeah, I have a problem with Jennifer Hudson speaking for fat women (especially with that song) since she used Weight Watchers to lose weight and is shilling for them. Sorry, she doesn’t speak for this fat woman, and no way in hell would I want to fight for a man that no longer wants me (been there done that, soooooo not worth it).
My personal fave right now is Adele’s Rumor Has It (have to set the cruise control when it’s playing and I’m driving or I’d definitely exceed the speed limit, even on the freeway, rocking out to it).
