Fatty Gift Giving
Christmas is right around the corner. I know I am swamped with Christmas shopping, baking various cookies and candies as gifts, wrapping presents, making bath products, making candles, etc., etc. You get the idea.
Gift giving is in the air! So, what do you give your favorite Fat Activist? Save time by shopping online and help a fellow activist to boot! Here is a great list of some unique Fat Acceptance gifts. To make this list, the item had to be created by a fat activist or be about Fat Acceptance. I purposely didn’t include clothing; whole blogs are devoted to fatshion and I know I couldn’t do the subject justice.
Help support the movement by spouting a message and help a fellow activist while you’re at it!

Acrylic fat necklace and the No Diet Talk brooch by the amazing definatalie.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fat necklaces. I have horrid allergy problems (boo nickle!), and acrylic and glass are one of the few things I CAN wear. I love the in-your-face curve and the attitude of the pendant, which runs $27.95 AUD + shipping.
The No Diet Talk brooch is a great way of sharing your activism. Sick of diet talk in the lunch room, at family dinners and during otherwise deep and meaningful conversations? Wear a No Diet Talk brooch and your friends, family, workmates and casual conversation partners will know where you stand. $22.95 AUD + shipping
Wonderful plus-sized prints from Size Acceptance blogger/artist Elizabeth Patch
They come at various price points, some as low as $10.
Speaking of prints, there is always the ever popular (and NSFW) Adiposititivity Project.
They have a wonderful storefront on Cafe Press, featuring everything from day planners to mugs to wall prints to t-shirts. I espically like the tiles and the calendars. I know seeing classy images of fat bodies really helps me normalize my own body image. Fight back against the thin-centric messages out there, while tastefully decorating at the same time.
Speaking of political and NSFW check out these wonderful magnets (she has some WAY naughtier ones, too) by Virgie Tovar.
They feature all sorts of fat positive messages, such as “I was born into a world where fat women are outlaws, lawless revolutionaries living on the outskirts of society… like Thelma and Louise meet Che Guevara. The stuff of fantasies and legends.” Or “My Fat Is Political: I fuck the thin-centric, fatphobic, ageist, ableist, classist, racist paradigm with every curve, every pound, everyday.” There are also some great, edgy, sexy messages too. These run $2 a piece.
Next we have Bay Area creator, KatLovesChocolate on Etsy.
She is curator of the Fat and Beautiful collection on Etsy, and she makes amazing buttons, pins, ornaments, and much more out of polymer clay. Her motto: Say no to resolutions — Start a Revolution! Her creations run from $14.50 for a cute roly-poly clay creature to $20 (plus shipping) for a wonderful hand made ornament.
And here is yet another Etsy store by another FA blogger! Remember the Fat Waitress? She hasn’t been as active on the blogging front, but she is still an active member of the FA community. And this year she finally got her Etsy store up and running!
Check out her beautiful crocheted items, earrings, and shadowboxes. I LOVE her lace, and I know I am asking for that for the holidays. Her work runs from $6 for button earring to $140 for framed watercolor and cut paper shadowboxes.
So, fellow readers: do you have anything for sale? Anything you want to buy from another FA blogger? I know I missed tons of you authors and crafters: are you making and selling stuff this year? What do you have on offer? Whatever it is, happy holidays and happy shopping!
If you know anyone who loves fat sex, you can donate to Rebecca Jane Weinstein’s book, Fat Sex, in their name.
Excellent list of resources, erylin. Thanks for sharing!
Peace,
Shannon
This makes me want to get out my Badg-A-Minit button maker and start making buttons and badges again! Now where did I put that box it was in?
These are all fantastic ideas and I may have to use them for Christmas next year - my shopping for this year is done already (has been done since the last part of October).
Hey, PeopleOfSize.com has a cafe press store. I’m not so much pushing our stuff, but there is some art that is pretty cool. http://www.cafepress.com/peopleofsize We also have an Amazon store, and of course you can get these books outside our store, but we have put together a pretty good list of relevant stuff. http://astore.amazon.com/peopleofsizec-20

grr i meant to add the fat ladies in space but it fell out of my brain while i was writing it.
I have some body acceptance designs in my Zazzle store Purple Ducky Designs
T-shirt sizes are still very problematic (women’s shirts run small, a continuing complaint on Zazzle that a lot of us have been trying to get them to fix), but everything else is ver size friendly
Okay, that is very weird, that link should take people straight to my body acceptance designs.
I fixed it!
Peace,
Shannon
Thank you
